I don't think it matters whose day it falls on. One of the things that newly-divorced parents don't know is that you two can do whatever you want as time goes on - as long as you both agree upon it. So if you offer to always pick him up and take him to games, and she accepts, it doesn't matter whose day it is - you're both in agreement and it's fine. Now, she could change her mind at any time - true. But if this works out in her favor (from her perspective), then WHY would she want to argue against it?

It may work out for a while, and then she'll begin to feel like it's reflecting poorly on her, and she'll get her act together and start being better about taking him to baseball. I'd offer it up. What's there to lose?
