Subject: letter from my brother

Hi Bro! [wait, he never calls me bro]

You know I'm still back in the last century, therefore computer illiterate. Yes, you know I tried using one a few years ago, but it was absolute frustration! In fact, the day it finally died I rejoiced! [as I recall, you absolutely destroyed it]

Anyway, I prefer to write rather than try to use all the various electronic media everyone seems to have today. I find fewer and fewer people seem to communicate in a written format, and it shows in the prevalent misuse of the English language. Of course the slaughter of the language is even more obvious in the spoken word. Even people such as newscasters and public speakers seem not to have had a basic English course. It seems words today have been condensed into a code. Acronyms and abbreviations, interspersed with 'like' and 'you know' are infuriating to me. But that's just another symptom of the deterioration of civilization, like tattoos and body piercings. [hey! remind me to show you my L.A. Kings tat, celebrating their first Stanley Cup, June 12, 2012]
