Bill said above that his wife gets more thorough exams from her male doctors than he gets from the same doctor. He is basing this on her description of what takes place during her visits and comparing this to his own experiences there.

In general, is there a tendency for examiners, be they doctors, nurse-practitioners, or physicians assistants, to give opposite sex patients a more thorough going over?

Or is Bill's comment just an isolated case?

I agree with you carol, it seems that what you said is more frequent than the situation known by Bill with his wife and a female doctor, it is certainly more an isolated case.
