Date Posted: November 13, 2002 8:36:31 EDT Hilary Bader, 50, Emmy Award-winning television writer for science fiction shows including "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Superman: The Animated Series," died Thursday of breast cancer at the City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte. Bader shared a daytime Emmy last year for the animated "Batman Beyond" and was nominated for several other Emmys for her work on that program and on "The New Batman/Superman Adventures." A versatile entertainer, the Brooklyn-born Bader studied mime in Paris and, with partner Edmund Felix, wrote and toured the United States performing story theater they titled "African Folk Tales." Bader moved to Hollywood to write for television, pitched a couple of scripts to "Star Trek" and got hired as a Writers Guild intern. In addition to writing for that series, "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," "Xena: Warrior Princess" and animated adventure series, Bader also wrote 38 comic books for DC Comics and several Web episodes of "Gotham Girls" and "Red Knuckles Gym."
