Date Posted: January 31, 2003 11:35:16 EDT A couple were found dead aboard their docked yacht, apparently suffocating when the fire-extinguishing system used all the oxygen in the cabin. The bodies of John Robertson, 56, and his wife, Andreija Robertson, 50, were discovered Jan. 19 near the utility compartment of their 58-foot boat. The pair split their time between Jupiter and Bigfork, Mont. Marine experts determined John Robertson, a leg amputee who wasn't wearing his prosthesis, fell and grabbed a wire that triggered the carbon dioxide-powered system, police said Thursday. Andreija Robertson was overcome probably trying to rescue her 260-pound husband, investigators said. The two were painting the engine room when the accident happened, police said. The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's Office performed autopsies but found no signs of foul play or trauma. Blood and tissue tests won't be ready for a couple of months. Jupiter is about 80 miles north of Miami. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
