Date Posted: February 06, 2003 1:53:13 EDT A drunken driver hit a lamppost and then plowed into pedestrians Wednesday, killing an 11-month-old boy in a stroller and two teenagers, officials said. The driver continued about eight blocks before striking a flatbed truck and flipping, said Detective Tom Kuchma, a police spokesman. The victims - a 17-year-old mother, her 11-month-old son and a 19-year-old woman - had been crossing the street or standing on a median when they were hit, Kuchma said. Another infant also was critically injured. "When I got here, there were two babies still lying in their strollers," police Lt. Dennis Magoolaghan said. "The strollers were totally flattened." The 25-year-old driver of the Jeep, who was hospitalized in critical condition, was charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
