I did voluntary work for a while, and got info from others. India's great, but can be stressful and even dangerous. Good advice: dont make any arrangement final until you've seen it in person. Make sure your employers know that as a westerner you need certain conditions. Try to talk to any other westerners already working there;it can be very important to have a westerner's point of view on safety, health and nutrition,etc.Have a good time!
PS Do watch the political situatiuon, and make sure you arn't doing any religious work.
