Pay your union dues on time and you will get represented by a union rep who will represent you at your disiplanary hearing. If you don't pay your monthy dues you will not get represented at your disiplanary hearing. So pay your dues on time. people have said that they are paying their union dues every month, why are they saying i'm behind? The majority of local 100 members are paying our dues. But many of us are ending up being a little behind. There are a few reasons for this. One is simple. If you fall behind at some point and don't make up the gap,you end up staying behind even though you keep on making payments. you have to make up the gap to be 100% in good standing. Another is even simpler. Many of us get around to paying our bills at the end of the month. But, according to the TWU Constitution, your monthly dues must be paid by the 15th. If you let it go to the end of the month, you are behind 15 days out of every 30. WHY DOES THIS MATTER? Local 100 is bound by the TWU Constitution. When we have a vote, all members in 100% good standing and ONLY members in 100% good standing get to vote. For example, when we negotitate our next contract with the M.T.A. people who are behind on their dues will not receive ballots for the contract ratification vote. IF they did, it could invalidate the vote. Don't get left without a voice on issues you care about. If you have been paying your dues and are only $30 or $40 behind, it makes no sence to stay behind. Make up that gap, get into 100% good standing, and stay that way.
