Similarities - If a problem comes up, it needs to be addressed in both situations because it can further lead to more problems. If you keep letting a staff member slide on certain things, other staff members will think they can do the same. It's the same case with residents. If you let someone drink in his room, the other residents are going to see it as fair game.

Differences - Staff discipline has to be handled more delicately because it involves people you work with. Also, because the staff tends to develop a lot of friendships, it can get messier if it's done badly.
