Hi!

I'm also a newbie here, and this is my first time to post. But I'll try to answer what I can. We just finished our Native American study using PP. I only have 2 children - 12yodd (6th) & 7yodd (2nd). My 6th grader is dyslexic, and is a little delayed. But here's what I do with her.

We do all the math & language from PP for review. Plus she does 1 lesson from Simply Spelling & 1 lesson from Simply Grammar each week. She does the writing activities from PP plus she keeps a daily journal. I use Writer's Inc. as a resource. Sometimes we do some narration from our read alouds. But mostly, I just expect her writng assignments/book reports to be more in-depth and detailed than my 2nd grader. The lessons from PP my dd loves - they're fun and she doesn't even consider it school! LOL.

For reading, just choose books that are on her reading level. We generally use fiction. All non-fiction books I real aloud to my dd's. Of course, choose whatever Math program works for your dc. I use Simply Numbers for my 6th grader. Its the only program that I have found that "clicks" with her.

I use the Kingfisher History Encyclopedia and the DK Science Encyclopedia as resources, but think you shouldn't have a problem using World Books set. I also use www.enchantedlearning.com for some basic information, if you have internet access.

I'm sorry this was so long, but I hope it was some help to you. My dh is considering becoming a full-time evangelist, so I have also been trying to think of ways to limit the number of books we use.

Mainly, just enjoy this time with your children. Use PP, and just "tweak" the program to fit your family. I don't mind you emailing me with more questions. But we leave this morning on a 2 week trip. I'll email you back when we return home.

God bless you on your journeys!
Laura
