This years parade is less than 2 months away and we will once again have the Salute to the War Dog entry in it. I extend my annual invitation to each and every one of you to join us. Last year, over 65 people and their German Shepherd dogs were on hand to pay respect to our dogs and to all military war dogs that have served this country right by our side. Below is information on this years parade. Please note the parade will be on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12th this year. Also, take note that NASCAR is also in town that weekend, with the big race the day before the parade.
VA Veterans Day Parade
Fact Sheet
The Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center’s annual VA Veterans Day Parade has become a staple in the Phoenix community in paying tribute to our nation’s veterans on the national observance of Veterans Day. Parade attendance has grown consistently making the VA Veterans Day Parade the fourth largest Veterans Day parade in the USA.
Featuring more than 100 parade entries, the VA Veterans Day Parade is a showcase of military and civilian marching units, color guards, military vehicles, equestrian units, floats, balloons, and bands. VA and the City of Phoenix partnered together to create the VA Veterans Day Parade in 1998. In 2003, the Veterans Medical Leadership Council became the primary fundraiser for the event. All three groups now join together to help honor veterans on their special day.
This year’s theme, “Hearts of Valor” encompasses the meaning of Veterans Day by paying homage to those who serve our country in military operations.
