Once again we will be presenting the Salute to the War Dog entry in the Phoenix Veteran's Day Parade. Its going to be a great one this year. Luke AFB is planning to send five teams. It looks like the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office will have a few teams, along with a Search and Rescue Group, and four clubs, including
The Grand Canyon German Shepherd Club, whose members have marched every year. The SW German Shepherd Rescue Organization, the Labrador Retriever Rescue Organization, and the Arizona Canine Hiking Club, along with some independent handlers.

This year's theme is a salute to the WWII Veteran, so I'm trying to tell a story with our entry, how the WWII canine led to today's use of dogs, with a transition into law enforcement, search and rescue, and other service dogs, and the civilians who volunteered their pet for use in the military.

As always, an open invitation is there for any former dog handler who wishes to march in memory of their dog. The crowd is great...over 100,000 people attend this parade each year.....and they hear the story of what those animals did and meant to us. If anyone would llike to attend, and would like to walk with a dog once again, please let me know. I can't promise one, but there are always a few dogs available for walking, and I need plenty of notice. Feel free to email me.
