2 cups sifted all-purpose flour =20
1 cup cornmeal=20
1=BD teaspoons baking powder=20
1=BD teaspoons salt
3/4 cup vegetable shortening=20
2/3 cup cold water=20
Melted butter=20
Caraway seeds, poppy seeds, dill seeds=20

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Sift flour, cornmeal, baking powder

salt. Work in shortening until consistency of coarse crumbs. Add

little at a time and stir lightly until mixture is dampened. If
necessary,=

add a little more water to hold mixture together.=20
Roll out on lightly floured board to about 1/8 inch thickness.
Cut=

floured cutter or cut into strips.=20
Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with seeds.=20
Bake on ungreased cookie sheets for 10 to 12 minutes, or until
very=
light=20
brown. Makes 23 dozen.=20
