There comes a slight rustling in reply to Aurora's inquiry. Instead of a voice, however, the tree brances groan and crackle slightly as a figure lands on first, one, and then another. Then, from the lowest branch of them all, Amarant launche himself onto the ground mere yards from his wife.

"Sorry," he says, a little wearily. "I took longer than I expected I'd take. I can't go much farther by flying; the trees are way too think. We have to go by foot." The wingli speaks the last two words like a curse. He didn't like walking. It was too slow for the level of urgency this situation called for.

His eyes are drawn towards the denser part of the forest. "I know he went this way," he says, a little distractedly. "I found this, and footprints," he adds, offering her a slightly torn, rusty red feather. "Thank whatever's up there for rain."
