Got the same rattle, dealer sais it was hood hinge and wanted almost 200 bucks to fix it! Your idea sounds great, screw the dealer! I'll just cram something in there. Hope your s10 is better than my 97, what a piece of crap. Compressor shot at 60,000, torque converter failed at 65,000, oil pan leaked at 68,000. Now truck turns over but won't start when it's hot, no juice getting to fuel pump relay. Any ideas? I did my part to maintain truck, but chevy built a real trash heap that year...
