Date Posted: 16:27:15 07/21/02 Sun Well, my quest for an aluminum transfercase skid plate has ended in compromise. I was unable to locate an aluminum one so I settled for the composite shield. The GM part# is: 15038799 and cost $93 (ouch!) through the local dealer, here. From discussing the LACK of Aluminum plates, we decided that GM is replacing the old stock (alum.) with the "New, High-tech, light weight, latest greatest" Composite Shields. For those who can't find aluminum ones the composite may be your only choice. The part numbers are supposed to be the same (composite replaces aluminum). P.S. If you happen across one at a salvage yard the measurement between the two transmission bolts to the three rear mounting bolts is 16 3/4 inches for our trucks.
