Hey everyone, I've got just a few personal comments to add... Shawn Lane is THE man!! He's one of the guitarists that would make me piss my pants trying to improvise with him. Yeah, Perpetual Burn was only Jason Becker, with a couple guest solos by Marty. Becker was shredding shit up at age 16 also. He recorded Perpetual Burn when he was 17/18, so he had those chops years before. Overall, Lane is the best/ most untouchable guitarist out there. Shawn takes it way out of the box, which is why he has such a unique sound. Eric Johnson shreds, however some of his music is really boring... he's also got one of the best tones I've ever heard! Buckethead has cool ideas and good technique, but he is nowhere near the skill level of Lane. As for Holdsworth-- awesome legato player, however with a little bullshit, don't take everything he does seriously. My two all-time fave's are definitely Shawn Lane and Steve Morse. Steve Morse is amazing! He's one of the most versatile/technically advanced players. KEEP SHREDDING!
