Subject: STUPID 4.0's They are the Devil.

I havent been a Ford tech for very long. I've worked in GM dealerships for about 5 years now. I moved over to Ford about 6 months ago. It's a long story...

Anyway. I'm finally getting in the groove about a month ago. Then, all heck breaks loose. 2001 Explorer. 4.0 sohc. Blown headgasket. Luckily, it's the drivers side head. So i dive right in. It got a tad intimidating at first, but i got into it and got it done. I set the timing...right...EXACTLY by the book. The engine ran just a smidgin bit on the rough side. You could barely feel it. So "upper managment" said... "Let it go, it will clear up." So i did. One month later, it comes back. Check engine light. Number 2 misfire. Just happen to do a relative comp. check with WDS. Says drivers side is low low low. So they're like, well...you must have timed it wrong. Take it back apart, retime it.

That my friends is where the can of worms opened up on me. If it isnt tensioners sticking, it's valves bending, if it isnt that...it's another. Do any of you have any advise on these engines? I can't understand Ford's intentions with this engine. Most definetely the junkiest thing i've ever got into.

It's been almost a week now..it's still not fixed. I'm at the end of my rope.
