Subject: 02 E250 cargo van front tire wear

I have a 2002 E250 van with 26,500 miles on it, that I can't keep tires from prematurely wearing on the front. At 4000 miles I brought the vehicle in to the dealer for a front end alignment and a rotation because of inside shoulder wear. This was before I installed racks for tools & supplies.

At 9000 miles I brought it back again due to tire wear. It was aligned again, fully loaded and with new tires. By 16,000 miles the front tires were worn out again so I rotated the good tires to the front. At 26,500 miles all four tires were worn out.

At 26,500 miles I brought the van back to the dealer for rear inner brake pads w/dust shields and I brought up the tire wear problem. My dealer said there was nothing wrong with my van. The service manager said that due to the twin I-Beam suspension, a constant changing of weight is what is causing the tire wear. The only problem is that the amount of weight that changes from one day to the next is, at the most, 300 lbs. and that's not every day. Usually I'll haul some additional tools and supplies to a job and unload, and then a couple weeks later reload them and bring them back to the shop and unload.

This isn't the first E250 I've owned and used in this fashion. So I know that I'm not using the van beyond its limits. I also find it hard to believe that all other companies that run E250 vans are having this same problem. Eight tires in 26,500 miles is extreme. I would appreciate any suggestions.
