Subject: All Domestics Have Problems

It`s not just Ford. For has problems with coil packs per cylinder with recessed boots in the cylinder heads.
G.M. has plastic intake manifold gaskets which have silicone sealer in the middle of each coolant port that gets pushed through the brittle plastic with coolant pressure after the plastic gets 60,000- miles on it.
Dodge transmission woes/ diesel injestor supplt pumps which give no warning when they are bad. Their only purpose is to supply fuel to cool the $1000.00 plus injector pump, which still runs the truck after the supply pump quits pumping.
Problem with All These Vehicles
Engineers designing parts so precisely go bad after warranty expires. Even if these parts go bad under warranty. They will charge you for it anyway, blaming a component that is not under your warranty.
Japanese designed vehicles are much less expensive to maintain, however, they are catching on;example, no more replacable fuel filters. They all followed suit with Chrystlers in-tank filter on the bottom of the pump.
G.M. also answers to the low mileage fuel pump module failure, only costing a mere $600.00 + just for the part. Labor not included. These days manufacteres are paying engineers to design un-reliabilty after warranty, not reliabilty after warranty. You would think that if a descent car is $20,000. + you would have trouble free. They make their money with these problems to address the safety issues and the E.P.A.`s expensive pollution standards. How much money does it cost them to design a car or truck that is trouble-free for 200,000. miles? The best trouble-free truck I have seen, was the V6 Nissan Frontier, only if you had your timing belt, water pump, and all Cam and front crank seals replaced at 105000 miles. If you didn`t, you are looking at a reman engine. They all have been design to cost you more than the sticker in the window. Honda is a good vehicle, however, they all have their flaws.
The bottom line is, domestic designed vehicles will cost you more than you plan or expect to spend on maintenance. It is the 21st century and product reliability left in the 90`s. Money makes the world go round, and also will keep your wheels spinning.
