Subject: junk yard motor

Hi,
after getting a junk yard 4.6 ford motor I ran a compression test which tested low (70 psi) than someone told me it had to have oil to get the proper readings, so I added oil and turned the engine with a starter motor for about 20 minutes I also squirted a little gas in the cylinders than ran the motor some more, (also the plugs looked good with no oil or carbon build up) after this my compression readings starting at the passenger side front and going around clockwise to the driver side front were 170,170, 150, 170, 180,180, 170,160. is this close enough there was no way to warm up the engine. any ideas on how to check a used motor would be apriciated
