Hello 74;

They are a pain, aren't they? I have replaced the rotors on a 90 and 91 accord, so i assume the 94 is similar.

However, before you go too far, you might want to check to see if any shops in your area can turn this type rotor OFF the vehicle. Those in my area said they could only turn them ON the car. ??? Also, I just bought new rotors for $20 each, locally.

The rotor is bolted to the hub with the 4 large bolts on the stud-side. The hub fits into the knuckle with a tight tolerance and is secured with the 4 (12 point) bolts you have already removed. It is usually rusted in to the knuckle and you can't just separate them by hand. Not even with a kung-fu grip...LOL.

If you have the knuckle out of the car, with the hub/rotor assy still attached, you can press the hub/rotor assy out of the knuckle if you have access to a press.

If not, you can set it on a bench, knuckle side up, and support the knuckle so the rotor/hub assy is hanging freely. Then thread in all 4 (12 point) bolts until 3-4 threads are showing. Then...using a 12-point socket and 6-inch extention, tap on the bolts in a criss-cross pattern, unscrewing the bolts as you go, until you drive the hub/rotor assy out of the knuckle. Use an old crappy extention you don't mind beating on.

Now...you have to unbolt the rotor from the hub. To secure the rotor in place, I set the rotor on a board, then screwed thin wooden slats to the board on the opposing sides with ends wedged into the slots of the rotor to secure the rotor in the loosening direction. Then I was able to unbolt them. When reinstalling the bolts, just reorient your slats to lock the rotor in the tightening direction.

Rotor-to-hub bolt torque: 40 ft-lbs
Hub-to-knuckle bolt torque: 33 ft-lbs

Hope this helps...Good luck. Let us know how it went.

Mike
