I replaced the blower motor in a 1991 accord a month ago. I did not have to remove the evaporator but it looks like that is what would "normally" be done. I had to loosen the dash on the passenger side to give me more wiggle room for removal. If you are patient and not a brute you can remove it without damaging anything.
