I have had, what sounds like, the same problem on my 93 Accord. My 93 will quickly turn over a few times and then will stop (in other words, will only turn the engine for about a half a second, then nothing). Always on a super-hot day. I found that moving the shift from park to neutral or simply leaving it in park and jiggling the shift will allow it to start normally. This seems to be related to a malfunctioning control switch that would normally dis-allow the starting of the engine if the car is not in park or neutral. I have also been able to insert a spare key in the "shift-lock" keyhole which would allow it to start. This switch is located under the console, on the passenger's side of the shift. I have not yet replaced it and this is an annoying problem.
