You know the times, now beat them

That was the last of the Monday night track race sessions until next season - many thanks to everyone who came along to sample track racing. Starting in November, there will be a comprehensive weekly race programme. We may finish this season with a couple of Sunday afternoon sessions - will let you know once decided. But do keep up your speed and skill sessions on the track - don't tempt your luck if track surface is wet though. And get along to the local bike shops and set yourself up with a track bike so you will be raring to go next season. The prospect of a full season's exciting track (and road) racing ahead should help motivate you during those long training rides in the dark, cold, wind and rain that lie ahead during the winter. You will be grateful for those miles in the legs though next season when your lungs are gasping with 3 laps to go in the 4000m pursuit. But if you are a bit soft try indoor spinning classes as they are recommended by some as ideal training for the track.

Safe cycling,

Kevin Smith
