Subject: Lake Wairarapa funride

Great race, good turn out, well marshalled, good organisation except for the confusion at the start. Few knew where the start was and were circulating around trying to find a someone who knew the secret. It was an odd rolling start with only the front few knowing when the race had started, and the 64 km crew were told that they would start 10 minutes later but were let go with the rest. Some were totally unsure whether they had started or not. Minor grumble.

It is really quite simple: tell people what is happening clearly and so everyone can hear. Keep it simple, and stick to the game plan. But the growing numbers at races is exciting - no reason why we can't attract even more.

Oh yes, I know these are so-called fun rides but why not have a winner and put results in paper as this attracts more interest. And why not prizes for top three placegetters in each category. A few dollars or prizes back to the top performers would be a good bonus for them and why not reward the best as well as the lucky spot draw winners. From what I read the Manawatu Wanganui crowd put on useful prize money - why do we race for nothing in Wgtn?

We do appreciate the efforts organisers go to but a few simple improvements could make a big difference and help ensure everyone has a great experience - from the hotshots to the first timers.
