>I have a 10mo old peke and a cat. whenever I give my peke (Daphne) a treat my cat wants to sniff it Daphne started nipping and growling everytime. When this happens I say no in a very stern way and give the treat to the cat and let my cat check it out while I hold Daphne, and make her watch. Then I take the treat away. After a few minutes I give the treat back. Daphne soon realized to be a little more patient. Now when my cat comes near her treat she drops it and lets him sniff and once the cat gets bored with it Daphne starts to eat again. I guess it worked if you want to give that a try. I do know that pekes are very selfish when it comes to their owner and their food. You just need to train this behavior by taking away what they want at that particular moment. As far as trying to mate with your boxer it could either be a dominance thing. Daphne, although a female, has gotten on top of my sisters dog a male and from what I read it is to show the other dog who is in charge. Or it could be just simply his natural instincts are taking into effect. If you are not going to breed him get him fixed asap. I do believe that you will find his behaviors dramatically change. If you do not he will just get more high strung and dominant because he will want you female dog. You will also find that he will mark your entire home because her scent is on it. So if you do not intend on breeding him please do consider getting him fixed. As far as him growling at you when he gets food, another thought is to just simply hold him and give him his food while sitting on the floor and eventually have the boxer right next to you at the same time he will soon find that the boxer is not a threat to him and he does not need to fight for you affection or his food. he is a pup so all of these bad habits you need to nip in the butt right away. I am not an expert I just do alot of research on my animals because the happier the dog the happier the owner. I know I rambled a bit sorry if it is long, but every bit helps.
