Umbilical hernia's are very common in Pekingese, and it all depends on the seriousness of the hernia itself. I would suggest getting your vet to take a look at it. Umbilical hernia's can be hereditary which means if you were to breed her girl chances are most of the puppies would have the same problem. Some hernia's are just fat outside the hole, and the hole is very tiny which would never cause a problem. On the other hand, the hole could be rather large causing an intestine to go into there and twist. Your dog could be in severe danger if this were to happen. I would suggest taking your Peke to the Vet and discuss your options with him or her.
