But that is the whole point. Rights are not granted nor given, as you pointed out. We have them given by God and government defends them...until people start defining what a right is and isn't. Then it becomes government mandated discrimination.

No, don't upset your dad. He worked hard to support his family, even though he might have wrongly believed in the
National Park issue, he is still a good man and raised a good family.

I think though, that most people who grew up in the Depression believed that government would take care of them when the economy tanked. And I think that is where his understanding comes from. He earned an honest wage, even if he misunderstood the principle. And he taught you some valuable lessons about work and family in the process.

You have given me much to think about. I will most likely be reading and re reading in the next few days while I try to get that site up so I can hear the interview.
