. . . anyone is wondering if this article is legit, I checked it out on www.snopes.com and it said "mixed". I gather that there is some truth to what happened. It was a severe snowstorm and the residents did manage to handle it without FEMA or other government emergency assistance, but it also appears that the governor did apply for national disaster assistance but didn't receive it. In any case, it makes a good story!
