I warned anyone who would listen when this started "All it will take is one major natural disaster and we will be sunk!" At one point over 1/2 of all ND's Guardsmen were over in Iraq--how stupid is that??? The Natl Guard is supposed to be here at home, defending us at home.

The new militaristic mentality also disturbs me. The gov of LA was saying how the Natl Guard was going to put an end to looting, that they were prepared to shoot lawbreakers and he hoped that they WOULD shoot lawbreakers. You know, there was a day that we just arrested them and sent them to trial. Now we treat our own people like the "diaper heads" of Iraq--shoot first, ask questions later. When we dehumanize others it's too easy to dehumanize our own people.
