I think we're saying the same thing only in a different key. We've had (have) white supremicist and neo-Nazi groups that say some VERY scary stuff. So what? Until they ACT on it, it's just words. We have militant gays who advocate some very scary stuff, radical pro-Israelis, communists, KKK, SLA, Black Panthers, etc etc. Yeah, they say and advocate and protest for things that are sinister, but we (the govt) cannot rightfully take action until they DO something (like the govt did when the SLA and Black Panthers broke the law.)

So yes, these countries have some very scary elements in their society--these fundamnetalists--but until they do something it's just words. BTW, this goes back to the issue of immigration policies which have gotten all screwed up, but I won't hold my breath hoping that anyone will wake up and adopt some saner imigration policies.

I think the comment you're referring to is poking a hornets' nest. If a hornet attacks we have a right to swat and defend ourselves. But at some point don't you think we ought to quit poking the hornets' nest? That's all I'm saying about these fundamentalists--quit antagonizing them. Time and again they've told us that the reason they attack is because of our foreign policy, our involvement in the Palestinian issue and yet the pro-war folks keep saying they hate us because we're so good. Come on....

But I'm with you--I really REALLY do want it all to stop. War is so ugly, so dehumanizing (to both parties), I just pray for peace. It takes two to fight, it only takes one to make peace, why can't it be the US?
