while I prefer to have your presence here on the board, I am not going to change the standards of the board for anyone... not lief, not you.

Certainly you know that I believe the war in heaven is continuing on the earth... it was and is being fought over agency. That said, there are times when agency has boundaries. When people's lives intersect, one's agency cannot deprive another of their own agency. My agency allows me to set up a PRO lds site, where negative is not posted about the church. Jay said it best long ago when Zarahemla was still being called "generic lds forum." This is when he talked about the anti talk on the board being like someone coming to his home and putting their feet on the coffee table. Or a smoker coming over and smoking in your home. Does it deprive someone of God given agency if you say no smoking in your home? No. It sets reasonable boundaries that protect your own agency to a smoke free home. If someone doesn't care for those boundaries, then they can use their god given agency to not go in the home.

This is my home. I have set a few boundaries.... one is not being nasty to each other, the other is not speaking ill of the church, it's doctrines, leaders or policies. To do so means you are smoking in my home, and hey, I'm putting that cigarette out. I don't want to breathe the smoke and have the stink all over me.

I invite my friends here to play with me. They have agency to choose to come or not. If they come, they accept that they can't be negative about the church like that. I hope that includes you, and even lief. Like I said, that's your choice.

But my rules do not in any way violate someone's agency.

KathyT
