Upon my return I was called back to work the next day and I haven't had a break since. I'm exhausted, but feeling good that I'm making some money. I'll finally get a free day this friday and I'll probably just sleep in and be lazy.

The shock and the sadness over Bruce's death has waned somewhat, but I'm still haunted by images of him in his coffin. The embalmers did a horrendous job and he looked terrible. I went to the viewing at the mortuary after work, but I had to work a triple-shift the next day, so I missed the funeral. I wanted to stay and talk to his family and friends, but I couldn't stay in the same room with the body. I felt this unbearable pressure to get out and away. I told a close friend that I didn't want to remember him that way and to forgive my early departure after only 10 minutes.

Work is keeping me too busy right now and I haven't been able to attend to everything I need to do after my trip. I'm buried in unfinished business.

The trip was very good and I have a number of great memories. Aoy was doing much better and I feel that she will be fine. I missed some of my friends, but connected with others. I spent most of my time with Jarunee when she wasn't working.

On my return trip I made a new friend, Erika. She's from Singapore and of Chinese decent. She lives in the San Francisco bay area and works in places around the world as a producer (primarily animation, but now venturing into Flash productions for the net). We met in Japan at the courier counter of the airport. She was on a return flight from Singapore and flies back as a courier frequently to visit her family. She has always stayed at the hotel the company pays for and I told her about the cool things to do in the area during a layover and she asked if I would show her.

I wanted to visit the recreation of an Edo period samurai village, but it was pretty damn cold on Feb 5th and returning from Thailand I only had light clothing suitable for the tropics. I opted to take her to Naritasan and see the Shin-sho-ji temple, one of my favorite sights. We did some shopping at the traditional market shops for local food items, ate at a cool local restaurant, and explored the temple and surrounding park. It was fun.

I have some good pictures, but my damn scanner isn't working. I hope I can get it repaired for a reasonable price.

Okay, I have to run off to work now. More later.
