You're 12 weeks along so we're going to another ultrasound and make sure everything is alright. Check for a healthy heartbeat and movements ok? -she flips on the monitor and motions to the exam bed, grabs a tube of lubricant a squeezes some on Stella's stomach. She then spreads it with the hand device, a picture pops up. She moves it around looking for the baby and finds it but no heartbeat- Well here's the baby -points- But I'm afraid I'm not finding a heartbeat. -moves the device around the baby in all possible directions but can't find a heartbeat. She moves it around th uterine wall and sees that the placenta has begun to detach- Um Stella...look here -points at the screen- You see this bit of tissue here? That is you placenta and it has begun to detach from the uterine wall. The baby has no heartbeat and the detachment is a positive sign of miscarriage. You should start experiencing some cramps somewhat similar to menstral cramps though more painful and sharp within a few days. Bleeding should start at that point as well. The bleeding should stop within 8 days the pain should subside in 3 no more than 4. You can take 2 Tylenol to help hold off the pain for you. If you're still bleeding and experiencing pain within 8 days please come in IMMEDIATELY. It's imperitive to your health alright? Well actually I'd like you to come back in 8 days anyways just make sure everything went alright. I'd like to give another pelvic exam just to make sure everything passed naturally alright? Now don't be surprised if you see the baby. However it will probably only be a glob of whitish tissue. It appears that the fetus stopped growing at about 10 weeks and died at about 11 weeks. Another thing, do not use tampons. Only pads ok? Now I'd like to see you back in 8 days ok? -smiles trying to console her-
