Digits slid across the keys of a grand piano, voice soft and only barely audible above the melancholy melody drifting from the keys. Her eyes stared straight ahead, the words coming almost mechanically for she was lost in her own world.

Hands began to shake as she neared the end, gathered courage beginning to falter. She wanted to preform, she really did, but the courage was always too much to muster. Her head hurt, but she zoned out once again. The only goal she had for today, for this week, for this month, was to preform this song all the way through...for once.
