sebaiknya semua mempelajari basic Jazztheory di Piano.
Karena urutan tuts piano adalah yg paling jelas untuk memahami Interval, Scale dan Chord (Jazzharmony).
Please Note:
Pemain Drum yg tidak bisa main piano secara basic tidak mungkin bisa main di jazz ensemble dengan baik.
Playing drums without understanding the harmony structure,
is playing drums without comprehensing music.

Interval with root C:

Dimusik klassik dan jazz ada 12 kunci nada yaitu
C C# D D# E F F# G G# A A# B C (dalam satu oktav dari C ke C) atau enharmonic shift:
C Db D Eb E F Gb G Ab A Bb B C

C - C = prime, C - C# (C - Db) = minor second,
C - D = major second, C - D# (C - Eb) = minor third,
C - E = major third, C - F = perfect fourth,
C - F# (C - Gb) = diminished fifth, C - G = perfect fifth,
C - G# (C - Ab) = augmented fifth, C - A = major 6,
C - A# (C - Bb) = diminished seventh dalam chord namanya
minor seventh, C - B = major seventh dan last but not least
C - C = octave (eighth).

C D E dan F G A B adalah whole step sedangkan E F dan B C adalah half step. Jadi dalam Major scale ada 5 whole steps dan 2 half steps. Kalau dilihat di Piano akan lebih jelas lagi urutannya mulai dari C.
C D E F G A B C di tuts putih, # dan b di tuts hitam.

Recapitulation: 5 whole steps + 2 half steps = 7
C major scale (C D E F G A B C) ada 7 nada dan C diatas adalah nada dasar (satu octave lebih tinggi).
