I have a 1 yr old male spotted hairy hairless "Lucky" whom recently became very ill, after some testing the vet determined kidney problems, blood tests indicate that he is functioning on about 1/4 of his kidney function capability. Is this a common problem with cc??? My son brought Lucky home last June, I was initiately not impressed and somewhat shocked, now he is my boy, he is my best friend and loyal pal. He bonded more to me than anyone. He is adorable, perky, well behaved and smart as a whip. Some people said they aren't so smart, I would have to argue that point. We got him back to eating, he had lost 5 lbs in a week, he is having pedialite, cut 50% with water at this time, KD dry food, which he hates, we crush it and mix it with yogurt. He will eat it that way. And of course various people foods, they said to watch, fat, high protein, and sugars. My vet has been very supportive and we talk weekly, she assures me as long as we keep him eating and hydrated he could have some good time. She says his is a beautiful cc, and has a great personality. We got the weight back and the perkiness, it was so sad to watch him for that week it broke my heart. For any time I am thankful, I just hope with love and care it will be longer. He is doing very well, wouldn't know anything was wrong, we will run the blood test again in about a month. Any information about cc and kidney disease would be appreciated.
