Everything you read says 12-15 yrs, but I know of many, many cresties who lived to 18-22 yrs of age. Sadly, no one can say positively. There are things you can do to aid in digestion as well as arthritis. First, you need to look at what you're feeding him and how his needs may have changed over the last 7 yrs. You may be better off switching to a senior formula. There are also digestive enzymes you can add to food to help. All my dogs get yogurt mixed in with their food. You can also purchase acidipholus as a supplement, or look into one of the many digestive enzymes on the market (Prozyme is the first that comes to mind).

As for the arthritis, you can add glucosamine/chondroiten supplements, give him an aspirin a day (baby aspirin) or, worse case scenario, there are some prescription drugs available as well. I would not start any of these without first talking with your vet. There are many who have gotten relief for their canine pals with accupuncture as well.

As for hearing/site, sadly there's not much taht can be done for that but, trust me when I tell you that they adjust to these conditions much easier than we humans would in their same situation.

There's a just a few things to get you started. And, thank you for adopting from Crest-Care. What is your dog's name and do you recall who you adopted him from (ie., foster parent)?
