I have a 3 year old puff who used to eat poop, but doesn't any longer. I have a 10 month old hairless who does it constantly. I also have two Maltese. My hairless, Freckles, will literally stand behind them in the yard while they are pooping. I have to pick up before she gets there. I have a vet who has great solutions to everything. She's given me one that I haven't tried yet, but here it is anyhow. I'll bet it will work, and as soon as I get to the right supermarket, I'll be trying it.
She told me you probably need to go to a supermarket that sells bulk containers of MSG powder, since the regular markets may only sell packets if at all.
She said you need to put 1 tsp of powdered MSG on every bowl of food that everyone gets. If it's dry food, which mine are, swirl the bowl around so it coats all of the food. She said to do this for two weeks, and this may break the cycle of poop eating. The MSG makes the poop smell and taste bad. She said the MSG isn't bad for them unless they have heart problems. Also, only doing it for two weeks wouldn't cause any problems.
Let me know if you try this and if it works.
