It almost sounds to me as though he's gone into a staph infection. If so, he needs to be on at minimum a 3-week course of cephlasporin.

I, too, suggest baby sunscreen (Water Babies is a good one). Malaseb, Oxydex, Keratolux, SulphoxyDex are all pretty decent skin care shampoos, however, the keratolux is the least drying to the skin.

Eqyss also makes a great product called MicroTek spray that I've been using on my foster who has contact dermatitis on her feet. It kills the itch & puts a protective barrier over the skin. Plus, it moisturizes and is totally non-toxic so if the dog licks it it's not a big deal.

Also, try adding about 6-10 drops of pure tea tree oil to the moisturizer you use. I prefer Lubriderm for sensitive skin (unscented). You might also want to try a sea salt scrub rather than a sugar scrub.

I hope you are able to adopt this kid as it sure sounds like you've done more for him in the short time he's been with you than his "owners" have ever done.
