When my husband was a child and they got a second dog into
a house that had only one dog, they let the orginal dog "find" the newcomer. They placed the puppy in netural territory, in a shoebox and then let their dog explore the area under supervision. When their orginal dog found the
"lost" puppy she pretty much adopted him. This might always work but introducing them in netural territory might make them accept each other a little better.
