I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for the wonderful advice that you give on this board. I got my first CC (hairy hairless M) last week and when doing considerable research on the breed I came across this message board. I bookmarked it and revisited it yesterday when I needed some inspiration.

A little background on me... I've been involved with rescues for years and years (Collies and Shelties mostly) along with the occasional mixed breed from time to time. A little less than a year ago, my son was diagnosed with asthma and my rescue days with the long haired heavy shedders were OVER. I think I cried for a week after my last foster was adopted, I love Collies and still do. A few months later, my husband came home with a standard poodle that was found wandering the streets. He was a mess, we took him in and nursed him back to health... he was heaven sent and I truly love him, he is one amazing boy and is so glad to be in a real home. He's been with us for about 6 months and is still overly grateful. He's going through the training classes with the delta society to become a therapy dog, its truly amazing how far he's come along.

I guess back in December we decided to add another baby to our house... the question is what? We transferred to VA and our current house is much smaller than the one we had in TX. So we didn't want another "beast". I did the research, visited dog shows, called breeders, looked into rescues, etc. I decided that this time around I wanted a puppy... we decided on CC. My husband was squeemish about a hairless dog and he was adamant on a pp. I didn't care what it looked like, I'm all about getting "picked" by a dog not the other way around. We ended up getting picked by Spike (my son named him). He's wonderful and even my husband who originally thought he looked like a hyena thinks he's very handsome.

We made quite the statement when we went to the beach yesterday (yes spike was wearing a warm up suit) with our hairless CC and our large standard poodle!!!! Spike has blackheads and dry skin, I tired the yogurt/honey mix and the coconut oil and what a difference. He doesn't care to go outside in the grass so we're working on litter box training him, and low and behold there was advice too. There was comic relief with the stories of walking in public with these extrodinary animals, and general overall knowledge.

I just wanted to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge of this breed with those of us that are new. I do have one question... I'm getting Spike neutered as soon as possible, he just turned 3mo old on the 8th at what age is appropriate for these guys. I want to avoid the marking inside if at all possible. Thanks again so much!!!!

Julie
