Sounds as though your little girl may be going thru teenage acne stage. It's possible that it has gone into a staph infection and, if so, a 7-10 day course of antibiotics will be of little help, she needs to be put on at least a 21-day course. I don't believe Baytril is the Abx of choice for staph infections either, but I'm drawing a blank right now on what is normally given (for some reason I have it in my head it is Cephlaxin, but don't quote me on that).

Also, go out to www.revivalanimal.com or www.entirelypets.com and order a bottle of Keratolux medicated shampoo. You'll need to bathe her in it probably every other day. Make sure you're not using any thing that contains lanolin in it and nothing that clogs poors. If she needs a moisturizer after the Keratolux bath, use something like Aveeno, Lubriderm or Curel (for sensitive skin) Cetaphil, or Oil of Olay.

If she's really itchy, get her on some children's Benadryl once or twice daily to help with the itching. Think back...did you change anything like laundry soap, fabric softener, dryer sheets, etc., anything that she may be having an allergic reaction too. The itchies don't normally accompany teenage acne so I'm wondering if she doesn't have an allergy going on. Have you changed foods, treats, etc.? If she continues to be itchy, consider buying her an "allergy suit" at www.bonnie-wear.com This will cover her entire body so even if she does scratch, her nails are not coming into direct contact with her skin.

Let us know how it goes.
