Actually, many use a combo called Lister-Hazel. It is merely a 50/50 mix of Listerine (the original stuff...not the flavored as it is sticky) and witchhazel. Squeezing is not a good idea as you can make the problem worse and they can even get a staph infection. IF they are merely blackheads, the easiest thing to do is use an exfoliating scrub (such as St.Ives apricot scrub) or, if make your own sugar scrub with equal parts olive or almond oil & sugar. Scrub him down with this mixture, then follow up with a non-soap cleanser such as Cetaphil to remove the excess oil. Immediately following the bath, you can gently roll the skin to express any blackheads at the surface.

Another great product is Keratolux shampoo. This is great for acne and pearly cysts. You will not notice immediate results, but over time it helps tremendously. This shampoo can be somewhat so you may need to use a moisturizer following the bath. Just choose a lanolin free product such as Lubriderm, Aveeno, Neutragena or, my preference, Curel for sensitive skin.

Tanya, aloe is not a common allergen in cresties, so I would assume that is just your dog. I know many people that use pure aloe lotions & gels with great success.
