Subject: Chronic Diarrhea

For the past month Suzi has had diarrhea. I've been on top of it the entire time. I had to rush her to the Vet on 1/21 because she was in pain, lethargic and had vomited and had diarrhea. By the time I got her there, her heart rate was 160 & she was in a respiratory distress. They kept her there, gave her an antiemetic, subQ fluids, antibiotic, and tested her feces for parasites and blood. They came back negative. Her regular Vet was not there so I saw an associate. She said that Suzi had gastritis. I took her home & she was still not herself. She was lethargic and still had diarrhea for the next 1 1/2 weeks. I went back to the Vet to see her regular doctor on 1/25 and he suspected that she had pancreatitis. He gave her Pepcid and told me to continue the amoxicillin.
It is now 2/28 and Suzi is completely recovered except for the diarrhea. We went to an Internal specialist today and will go back tomorrow for x-rays and an abdominal ultrasound. She also wanted to do a blood test for EPI. From what I read, Suzi does not have the symptoms of EPI, except for diarrhea.
Has anyone had this type of GI problem with their dog? Her stools have been greasy. I am suspecting colitis. Anybody have any input for me????

Thank you.

Annette
