The CMOS battery is indeed a frequent problem. But, the other big weakness on Transmonde laptops (from what I've read) seems to be the port on the laptop where the power cord plugs in. The solders attaching the port mount to the computers mainboard tend to break easily and lead to flaky connections. This also prevents the battery from charging.

A few people on this list have had success tearing open the computer and resoldering those broken welds. Not too difficult if you've done it before, perhaps a bit dangerous if you haven't.

At the very least, you could open up the computer and visually inspect the solders around the port attachment on the mainboard. If there are cracks then that could be the problem.

Good luck!
