I had a really serious flicker problem with my Vivante SE, so much, in fact, that I sent it in to get repaired (about 2 years ago, I guess). Well, suffice it to say, they did nothing since about a day or so before I was due to ship it to them, it had stopped flickering.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I ended up opening up the screen casing, and disconnecting/reconnecting all wires to the LCD. Since that time (which was not long after getting the laptop back from "repair"), I have not seen the flicker. I suspect that many of the flicker cases reported were caused by loose wiring.
