I had this problem for a long time. Yes, a lose wire in
a video connector. (on my SE it was the big connector under
the left side of the screen) It finally broke completely
and I had to fix it by opening the computer up and
carefully soldering a thick bit of wire into the connector,
and then re-soldering the wire onto that. The hardest part
about it was getting the connector out of the socket and
then putting it back in with the wonky repair. It worked
perfectly.
