My Vivante XL has died - on power on, nothing on the screen. I tried connecting an external monitor, nothing.

I read in some other messages about replacing the CMOS battery. How do I open the thing up to do this? I tried removing all the obvious screws (including the ones in the battery and CD-ROM bays) but I couldn't see any way of getting it open.

Is there any kind of documentation available on these machines? If it's truly dead, can I cannibalise any parts? (A 14" LCD monitor would be nice to have... if only I could re-use the screen from the laptop...)
